Claimed to be the birthplace of Marco Polo, Korcula’s charm is very old world. Its ancient streets are laid out in an unusual herringbone pattern designed to minimize the constant breeze of the prevailing winds.15th and 16th century towers guard the town, surrounded in part by Venetian walls. Korcula’s population is about 2700. It’s a beautiful, lazy place.
